Plant Care is Self-Care

Plant Care is Self-Care

Do you ever wonder why you get so overwhelmingly excited when your house plant gets a new leaf? Or why a surge of joy overcomes you when a flower arrangement is hand delivered to your front step out of the blue? As I have been gearing up to start Magnolia Floral over the past several months these are the kinds of questions I have been asking myself when I think about the people I hope to be serving and working with. What is their why?

I think people get excited about a new leaf growing on their house plant because it shows them that they are doing something right! It’s encouraging to see growth and progress overtime and ultimately reminds us that leaves are opening all the time. This can be on our plants, but it can also be within our own lives. Did you see that leaf open yesterday? Maybe not, but when you woke up this morning and saw that it had changed, it just might have given you a little hope. A little hope that we too can grow and change even if it's not overwhelmingly noticeable until, well, it is. When our plants grow and are healthy they stimulate a productive atmosphere around us.

As a plant designer I hope to bring excitement and life into homes by helping others understand what they can do to best take care of their plants and by providing them with the best quality plants that I can. Taking care of our own plants can bring us a sense of pride and purpose, while also showing us the benefits of quality and consistent care.
